Happy April Fools' Day!
Let's begin our day with a prayer.
Dear God,
Bless me as I learn today. Help me grow in love and kindness, more like Jesus everyday.
Amen.

Our new calendar song goes to the tune of "Sing a Song of Sixpence":
Please note that where it says Extra Practice it is not required, but additional practice for the day or week.
Please do: Today the 5 sight words to practice are: many, here, into, they, where. Just 5 today! Practice with your flash cards. Use each word in a sentence. Ex: "We like to hike here in the park.
Spelling City offers extra practice for all 24 of the sight words Click on each word: https://www.spellingcity.com/view-spelling-list.html?listId=27567433
Extra Practice: A fun activity is to write the sight words in white crayon on a piece of paper and then water color or paint over the paper so the sight words appears like "magic".

Journeys Reading Book:
Please Read: "The Big Dig" by David Michaels, illustrated by Robin Koontz
Read through more than once for fluency.
Following your reading, answer: What did Pip want Sid to do? Who came to help Pip and Sid? What did the finished project look like? ( answers may vary) it is supposed to be a "squirrel sand sculpture."
Please brainstorm, then write and answer the question: If I had a pile of sand I would make a _________________________. Be sure to illustrate your sentence. I would love to see what you would build with a pile of sand.

Math
Math Mountains! We always draw circles from the bottom up. The tiny tumbler at the bottom of the mountain would be the first one to roll down. The first mountain is a 6-Mountain. 6 Tiny Tumblers live on it. We know this because of the number at the top. What does the 5 at the bottom of the mountain tell you? It tells how many tumblers rolled down that side (5). What does the 1 on the other side tell you? It tells me that 1 Tiny Tumbler rolled down that side. 5 and 1 are partners of 6. Please complete the math mountains, making sure to draw your Tiny Tumblers from the bottom up and making them small enough so they can fit. Send me your pictures!
Parents, you can either print this page, or draw the math mountains on scratch paper for your child to complete. Then have them write the numbers 1-20.
In your Math Composition book: Illustrate and solve the following story problem: 5 Dinosaurs were watching a volcano, 3 more joined them. How many are there altogether? Is this addition or subtraction? What type of dinosaur are you going to draw? I can't wait to see your volcanoes.

For Extra Practice: Students can do most of this independently. Because today is the first day of the month they will need help with (4) for April. They will also need help with writing the day of the week. They will want to pick the "mystery number" or try and guess the mystery number. I use the words it is "greater than" and it is "less than" to help with the guessing between 1 and 20.
Have a great day Kindergarten! I miss you!
