Good Morning Kindergartners!
Today is Marvelous Monday, June 1, 2020 and it is the FIRST day in the month of June.
Sing our calendar song: January, February, March, and April, May, June, July and August, September, October, November, December these are the months of the year!
Followed by, our June Song.
June is the 6th month, so when we write June 1, 2020 we write, 6/1/20.
This is the tune for our new calendar song! Everyone should recognize the tune to "When the Saints Go Marching In" we sang this for the All Saints' Day service.

Journey's Story
The Little Engine That Could
This week we are thinking about why it is important to help your friends. In today's story, The Little Engine That Could, we are going to listen to a classic story about a little engine that doesn't stop trying until she succeeds in helping a train. This story was retold by Watty Piper in 1930. The illustrations by Loren Long are new. This story is fantasy, which means the things in this story could not happen in real life.
Writing
My favorite part of the story was when____________________________, because__________________.
Please share your writing and illustrations with me.
Journey's Reader's Notebook
Please complete pages 79 and 80. Have students read the words in the box. Use your picture clues. When you read the sentence does it make sense? Cross out the sight words that you use to help you keep track. Do your best handwriting with pencil.
Math Assignment
Math Assignment today is Class Activity 5-20 on pages 261 and 262.
Students will compare two groups of objects first and write either a G for greater, or an L, for less. They will then add or subtract to make the two groups equal. If it helps to draw lines to match objects that is okay.
The goal is for the students to realize that they can make two groups equal by taking away from the larger group or by adding to the smaller group.
Optional: Minute to Win It! Practice a number that is a challenge for you to write. How many can you write in a minute?
